Enhancing efficiency and well-being with SUITX Exoskeletons
Just over a year ago, Mazda Toyota Manufacturing introduced SUITX exoskeletons, with a particular focus on the IX SHOULDER AIR designed to reduce shoulder fatigue during overhead work. MTM now offers the IX SHOULDER AIR to all employees engaged in overhead tasks, increasing quality of life and motivation of team members, and ultimately enhancing the efficiency of production processes.
Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM), a joint venture between Mazda and Toyota in Huntsville, Alabama, is modernizing its production processes through the use of advanced SUITX exoskeletons. With a workforce of over 6250 members, MTM builds the Toyota Corolla Cross and Mazda CX-50 models, and boasts a production capacity of 300,000 vehicles annually.
Since the initial trial phase in 2022, SUITX exoskeletons have been smoothly integrated into MTM's operations, particularly in tasks involving overhead work. This includes sealant application in the paint shop and the installation of brake lines, electric wires, and heat shields at assembly lines.
The implementation of SUITX exoskeletons at MTM has yielded remarkable results. During initial trials, team members reported a substantial 55% reduction in shoulder fatigue. As a testament to their commitment to employee well-being, MTM now offers the IX SHOULDER AIR to all employees engaged in overhead tasks. This personalized approach has resulted in exceptionally high rates of long-term exoskeleton utilization, underlining the positive impact of SUITX technology on both efficiency and employee satisfaction. Currently, 25 IX SHOULDER AIR and 7 IX BACK AIR exoskeletons are in use.
